About Radhanagari Forest
Radhanagari Wildlife Sanctuary in Kolhapur district is famous as the 'Bison Sanctuary' for its exceptionally large herds of Indian gaur — the world's largest bovine — that graze the forest clearings in large, easily observable groups. The sanctuary protects one of the last intact patches of moist semi-evergreen forest on the Maharashtra Ghats, and its Dajipur section is particularly celebrated for predictable gaur sightings at dawn and dusk. The forests transition from evergreen to moist deciduous to scrub across the altitude gradient.
