About Neora Valley Rainforest
Neora Valley National Park in the Kalimpong hills is one of West Bengal's most biodiverse protected areas and a sanctuary of global importance for the red panda. The park's extraordinary vertical range from sub-tropical forest at 183 metres to snow-capped ridges at 3200 metres compresses an entire Himalayan ecosystem gradient into a single forest block. The park's cloudforest zone — perpetually wrapped in mist and dripping with moisture — is one of the finest bird habitats in the eastern Himalayas, with dozens of species endemic to this zone.
