About Araku Valley Evergreen Forest

Araku Valley in the Visakhapatnam district of the Eastern Ghats is a high-altitude tribal homeland where Kondh, Gadaba, and Koya communities have practiced coffee farming under forest canopy for generations, creating one of India's most acclaimed shade-grown coffee regions. The surrounding reserved forests shelter a community of Eastern Ghats wildlife including leopards, bison, and the rare Jerdon's Baza raptor. The scenic train journey to Araku on the Kirandul line passes through 58 tunnels and 84 bridges.
