About Fossil (Ghughua)

Fossil National Park at Ghughua is utterly unlike any other national park in India — it protects not living wildlife but ancient fossilised trees, some up to 40 million years old. One of the most important palaeontological sites in Asia, it contains over 40 fossilised plant species embedded in sandstone ridges. Walking through the park is a journey through a prehistoric tropical forest.
