About Satkosia Forest

Satkosia Tiger Reserve occupies the dramatic gorge of the Mahanadi River where it cuts through the Eastern Ghats, creating 22 kilometres of steep, forested cliffs and turquoise water that is one of Odisha's most spectacular landscapes. The gorge's river ecosystem shelters critically endangered gharials — the world's longest crocodilian — as well as smooth-coated otters and Gangetic dolphins in a river corridor of exceptional biodiversity. Boat safaris along the Mahanadi gorge are among the finest wildlife experiences in Odisha.
