About Krang Suri Falls
Krang Suri Falls in the Jaintia Hills of Meghalaya is arguably the most beautiful natural swimming spot in northeast India — a pristine cascade dropping into a pool of extraordinary turquoise water set within a curtain of tropical forest. Unlike the monsoon-peak waterfalls of Cherrapunji, Krang Suri is most beautiful in the post-monsoon and winter months when rainfall reduces and the pool clarity reaches its maximum, allowing the brilliant turquoise colour caused by the calcareous rocks to shine with extraordinary intensity.
The Jaintia Hills around Krang Suri have a distinct cultural identity from the rest of Meghalaya — the Jaintia (Pnar) people maintain a matrilineal kinship system and a unique musical tradition centered on the duitara lute. Sacred groves protected under Jaintia customary law preserve patches of ancient forest throughout the hills, and the forest around Krang Suri has benefited from this traditional protection. The combination of the extraordinary pool, the intact forest, and the peaceful cultural environment makes Krang Suri one of the most rewarding and least-known waterfall destinations in India.

The colour of the pool is the headline — get close to the water surface with a wide angle to emphasise the turquoise. No filter needed for the pool shots.
