About Yangoupokpi-Lokchao Forest

Yangoupokpi-Lokchao Wildlife Sanctuary in Chandel district borders Myanmar and forms part of the forest corridor connecting India to the Indo-Burmese biodiversity hotspot. The sanctuary's subtropical and tropical semi-evergreen forest at the foothills of the Lokchao range is relatively intact and shelters a rich fauna including clouded leopards, Hoolock gibbons, and the stump-tailed macaque. The Lokchao River forms the boundary between India and Myanmar, and wildlife moves freely between both countries through the forest.
