About Seshachalam Forest

Seshachalam Biosphere Reserve in the Cuddapah and Chittoor districts surrounds the sacred Tirumala Hills of the world's most visited religious pilgrimage, yet maintains remarkable biodiversity in its rocky, scrubby forest. The biosphere reserve is particularly important for the slender loris — a nocturnal primate with enormous luminous eyes — and Indian pangolin, both of which face severe poaching pressure for traditional medicine. The ancient Eastern Ghats forest here represents a critically under-protected biome.
