About Indira Gandhi WLS Forest

The Indira Gandhi Wildlife Sanctuary forms the buffer zone of the Anamalai Tiger Reserve and has a distinct character of its own, with its famous Top Slip forestry station and some of the most accessible wildlife watching in Tamil Nadu. The sanctuary's Topslip area has been popular with visitors for over a century and today offers one of the finest combinations of rainforest trekking and elephant encounter experiences in the southern Ghats. The Parambikulam-Aliyar canal system threads through the sanctuary, historically irrigating the Coimbatore and Tirupur districts.
