About Cotigao Forest

Cotigao Wildlife Sanctuary is the remotest and most tranquil of Goa's protected forests, located in the far south near the Karnataka border. The forest harbours the slender loris, a large-eyed nocturnal primate that is seldom seen but resident in the canopy. Cotigao's ancient semi-evergreen forest, with its towering termite mounds and dense undergrowth, offers an authentic, uncrowded forest experience that contrasts sharply with the tourist activity on Goa's coastline.
