About Amboli Rainforest

Amboli is one of the most extraordinary biodiversity hotspots in the entire Western Ghats, receiving over 7600 mm of rainfall annually — the highest in Maharashtra — and harbouring an astonishing concentration of endemic amphibians and reptiles. Several frog species were discovered here that were previously unknown to science, giving Amboli the unofficial title of 'Frog Capital of India'. The forest is especially magical during monsoon when waterfalls thunder down every hillside and the forest floor is alive with calling frogs and glowing fireflies.
